FractionalPay

Tipalti alternative

A Tipalti alternative for split payments

If you are looking for a Tipalti alternative because your real problem is dividing each customer payment between sellers, partners and your platform, FractionalPay does that one job well: rules, ledger, refunds and payouts, for a flat monthly fee you start on your own.

Tipalti is an accounts payable and mass payout suite. It is a good choice for paying invoices and suppliers at scale. FractionalPay is narrower and works on a different moment: the second a payment succeeds, not the day an invoice is approved.

  • Splits every incoming payment the moment it succeeds
  • Flat monthly plans, no transaction fees from us
  • Self-serve signup and sandbox, no sales call

Different starting points

Accounts payable versus per-payment splitting

Tipalti starts from the payables side. A supplier sends an invoice, it is approved, and Tipalti pays it as part of a mass payout run. Third-party listings report its mass payments offering from 249 USD per month plus transaction fees, with full deployments often costing 1,500 to 5,000 USD per month. Onboarding is sales-led.

FractionalPay starts from the revenue side. A customer pays your platform, and the payment has to be shared: 80 percent to the host, 15 percent to you, 5 percent to the partner who referred the booking. Nobody sends an invoice for that. The split is a rule, and it has to run on every payment, then reverse correctly when a refund arrives.

That difference decides the fit. If your team spends its week approving supplier bills, an AP suite is the right tool. If your team spends its week working out who earned what from which payment, you need a split engine with a ledger, which is what FractionalPay is.

  • Rules with percentage and fixed lines, priorities and a remainder party
  • A double-entry ledger where every transaction balances to zero
  • Proportional refunds, including after a payout was already sent
  • Payout schedules, holds and minimum amounts per beneficiary

Honest fit

When Tipalti is the better choice

Some teams search for a Tipalti alternative and then find that Tipalti is exactly what they need. That is fine. Choose Tipalti when the work is mostly payables, not revenue sharing.

  • You need full AP automation with invoice approvals across your finance team
  • You onboard many suppliers who must submit their own banking and compliance details
  • You collect tax forms from recipients in many countries at large scale
  • Your payments go out against bills, not in proportion to incoming customer payments

Getting started

From signup to the first split without a sales call

There is no implementation project. You connect the platform account you already use, describe who gets what, and new payments start splitting from that moment. Finance can do every step in the dashboard; engineers can do the same through the split payment API.

  1. 01

    Connect your account

Link your Stripe Connect platform account. Payments, refunds and disputes are mirrored from it automatically.

  2. 02

    Add beneficiaries

Create sellers, hosts or partners one by one or import them from CSV, each tied to its connected account id.

  3. 03

    Write one rule

Percentages, fixed amounts, an optional hold and a remainder party. Test it on a sample amount before it goes live.

  4. 04

    Pay on schedule

Shares become available and move into daily, weekly or monthly payouts, with every step written to the ledger.

Is FractionalPay a full replacement for Tipalti
Only if your main need is splitting incoming payments. FractionalPay does not run invoice approvals or supplier onboarding workflows. If those are central to your work, Tipalti or another AP suite remains the better fit.
How does the cost compare
Tipalti mass payments are listed from 249 USD per month plus transaction fees, and third-party listings report deployments often at 1,500 to 5,000 USD per month. FractionalPay costs 199, 499 or 1,499 USD per month, or 99, 249 or 749 USD per month billed yearly, with no transaction fee from us. Your operator's own fees are unchanged.
Does FractionalPay hold our funds the way a payout service does
No. Payments land in your own platform account at a licensed payment operator. FractionalPay calculates the splits, keeps the ledger and sends payout instructions. We never hold, pool or transmit funds and we are not a payment institution.
Can we keep Tipalti for supplier bills and use FractionalPay for revenue splits
Yes. The two jobs do not overlap much. FractionalPay handles the shares of each customer payment, and your AP tool keeps paying supplier invoices.
What about tax forms for our sellers
Growth and Scale keep tax data per beneficiary: tax form status, yearly earnings statements and a VAT breakdown per line for your accountant. If you need to collect tax forms from very large numbers of recipients worldwide, a dedicated payout and tax tool is stronger there.
How quickly can we test it
Right away. The simulator on the homepage needs no account, and after signup the sandbox works with test keys and demo data. See the API docs or compare more options on the split payment companies page.

No transaction fees from us. Runs on your own payment account at a licensed operator. FractionalPay never holds your funds.
