Stripe split payments
Stripe split payments, by rule
Stripe split payments with FractionalPay work on your own Stripe platform account: each successful charge is divided by your rules between sellers, partners and the platform, written to a ledger and paid out on schedule.
Stripe keeps doing what it does well: taking the payment, holding the license and moving the money. FractionalPay adds the part Stripe leaves to your engineers, which is deciding who gets what and keeping the record straight when refunds arrive.
- Connects to the Stripe platform account you already have
- Percent, fixed and remainder lines on every charge

What Stripe gives you
Stripe Connect moves the money, you still own the logic
A Stripe marketplace is usually built on Stripe Connect. It gives you connected accounts for your sellers, destination charges that send part of a payment to one connected account, separate charges and transfers for paying several accounts from one charge, and transfers you can trigger at any time. That is the rail, and it is a good one.
What Connect does not give you is the business layer on top of it. There is no rule engine that says the seller earns 80 percent, the affiliate 5 percent for the first six months and the platform keeps the rest. There is no ledger of what each beneficiary earned from each payment. When a customer gets a partial refund on a charge that was split three ways, deciding how much to take back from each party is your code. And nothing compares those numbers with your Stripe balance at the end of the day.
FractionalPay is that layer. You connect your own Stripe platform account, define rules in the dashboard or through the API, and every charge is split the moment it succeeds.
- Rules with priorities, fixed amounts and a remainder party
- A double-entry ledger with balances per beneficiary
- Proportional refunds across every share of a charge

How it works
Split payments on your Stripe account in four steps
Payments land in your own Stripe platform account. FractionalPay calculates the splits, keeps the ledger and sends payout instructions to that account. It never holds, pools or transmits funds, it is not a payment institution, and it does not replace Stripe's license or money movement.
-
01
Connect your Stripe account
Authorize your Stripe Connect platform account. Charges, refunds, disputes and payouts start mirroring into FractionalPay.
-
02
Add beneficiaries
Sellers, affiliates and partners, each linked to its Stripe connected account id.
-
03
Set the rule
Percent and fixed lines, a match on product or metadata, and the party that receives the rounding remainder.
-
04
Split and pay out
Each charge is split, the ledger balances, and shares become payouts to connected accounts on your daily, weekly or monthly schedule.
Refunds
A partial refund on a split Stripe charge
The customer from the charge above gets 100.00 USD back. Stripe refunds the customer from your account. FractionalPay reverses each share in the same proportion it was split, so the seller gives back 80 percent of the refund, the platform 15 percent and the affiliate 5 percent.

If the seller was already paid out, the 80.00 USD becomes a negative balance and is deducted from the next payout, with a ledger entry that explains it. You can also set a rule to take refunds from the platform share first. Either way, nobody rebuilds the numbers by hand.
Stripe's own processing fees stay exactly as they are on your Stripe account. FractionalPay does not add a fee per charge or per payout.

For founders on Stripe
Keep Stripe, skip the months of split logic
Most founders who search for Stripe split payments already have checkout working. The next step, paying sellers and affiliates correctly, is where engineering time disappears into transfer scripts, spreadsheet ledgers and refund edge cases.
With FractionalPay the first rule can be live on the day you connect, and a finance person can change it later in the dashboard without a deploy. If you are still designing your marketplace payments flow, or you want to compare plain Connect with Connect plus a rules layer, read Stripe Connect split payments.
