Split one of your real orders by rule and see every share, ledger line and payout date in under a minute.
Try the split simulatorThe best mass payout software for a marketplace depends on two things: where buyers pay you and where your sellers live. If checkout already runs on Stripe and most sellers are in the US or Europe, Stripe Connect plus a split and ledger layer such as FractionalPay pays sellers from the same account the order was paid into, with commissions, holds and refunds already worked out. If sellers are spread across 150 or more countries, Payoneer, Hyperwallet or Tipalti reach more payout destinations, and Trolley or Dots cost less per payout on simple US runs. Marketplaces on Stripe can start with our payout platform for marketplaces.
A mass payout is the easy part to describe. You owe 400 sellers money every Friday and you want it to land in their bank accounts without anyone keying in 400 transfers. The hard part is everything that happens before the batch: deciding what each seller is owed after commission, a partial refund, a chargeback from three weeks ago and a promotion the marketplace funded. Most payout tools start once that number exists. That is the line that splits this market in two, and it is the first thing to settle before you compare prices.

FractionalPay is our product, and it supports Stripe only. It never holds funds. Payments stay in your Stripe platform account and FractionalPay calculates the shares, writes the ledger and sends payout instructions to that account. If you do not use Stripe, it is the wrong tool for you, and the payout networks below are the right shortlist.
How much does mass payout software cost?
Mass payout software costs anywhere from about 1,500 to 3,500 USD a month for a US marketplace paying 400 sellers weekly, once subscription and per-payout fees are added up. Published per-payout fees run from 0.25 USD to 2 USD for US bank payouts, international payouts cost 2 to 5 USD or a percentage, and enterprise vendors quote a platform fee on top.
Here is the same month on five setups. The marketplace sells about 706,000 USD on Stripe, keeps a 15% commission and pays 600,000 USD to 400 US sellers every week, so 1,600 payouts a month. Card processing is the same everywhere and left out.
| Setup | How it is calculated | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe Connect plus FractionalPay Growth | 400 active accounts at 2 USD, 0.25% of 600,000 USD, 1,600 payouts at 25 cents, plus 249 USD billed yearly | $2,949.00 |
| Hyperwallet | 1,600 US bank payouts at 0.95 USD | $1,520.00 |
| Trolley | 49 USD plan plus 1,600 ACH payouts at 1 USD (third-party figures) | $1,649.00 |
| Dots Scale | 999 USD plan plus 1,600 payouts at 1 USD | $2,599.00 |
| Payoneer Mass Payouts | Platform fee quoted by sales; sellers pay 1.50 USD per withdrawal on their side | Custom |
On payout fees alone, Hyperwallet and Trolley win this example, and we would not argue otherwise. What the table leaves out is the work before each run. With a standalone payout network, someone moves 600,000 USD out of Stripe to your bank and on to the payout provider, and someone works out each seller's net amount after commission, refunds and disputes. Those are hours of analyst time every week and the place where most overpayments happen. Paying weekly also doubles some fees. Switching the same sellers to a monthly schedule cuts Stripe's per-payout charges from 400 USD to 100 USD, which is why we cover marketplace payout schedules in detail, and the full fee list is in Stripe Connect fees for marketplaces.
Which mass payout platform is best for marketplaces?
For a marketplace that collects on Stripe, the best mass payout platform is the one that pays sellers from that same balance, which means Stripe Connect with a split and ledger layer on top. For a marketplace that collects elsewhere or pays sellers in dozens of countries, a dedicated payout network such as Payoneer, Hyperwallet or Tipalti is the better fit.
Three questions narrow the list fast.
Where does the money arrive?
If buyers pay through Stripe, every other payout network adds a hop. The funds leave Stripe, land in your operating account and then fund a second balance. Each hop is a delay of one to three business days and one more thing to reconcile. Keeping payouts on Stripe removes both.
Where do your sellers live?
Payoneer says it pays to more than 190 countries and territories in 70+ currencies. Stripe Connect covers fewer payout countries. If a large share of your sellers are in markets Stripe cannot pay, that alone may decide it, and a hybrid is common: Stripe for most sellers, a payout network for the rest. We compare that setup on our Payoneer alternative page and the PayPal option on Hyperwallet alternatives.
Who calculates the amount?
Payout tools pay what you tell them. If your amounts come from a split between seller, marketplace and a referral partner, minus a reserve held until the return window closes, that calculation has to live somewhere. A spreadsheet works at 50 sellers and breaks at 500. This is the job FractionalPay does on top of Stripe: split rules per order, holds, proportional refunds and a ledger line for every share.
What to check before you choose mass payout software
Run one real month through every vendor you shortlist, not a demo batch. These are the checks that separate tools that look the same on a feature page.
- A refund after payout. Refund half of an order whose seller was already paid. The tool should claw back the seller's share from their next payout, not leave the marketplace short.
- A failed payout. Give one seller a closed bank account. Check that the money returns to their balance, they are notified and the retry does not pay twice.
- A hold. Hold 10% of a new seller's earnings for 30 days and confirm it is released on time without manual work.
- Month-end reconciliation. Match every payout to the orders it came from and tie the total back to your processor balance.
- Seller onboarding. Count the steps a seller takes before the first payout, including identity checks and tax forms.
Onboarding deserves extra care for business sellers. Payout providers run KYC and KYB checks on identity and bank details, but they do not tell you whether a new seller is a business you want on your marketplace. Some platforms run a quick background check on each new seller business before approving the account, which is cheaper than unwinding payouts to a seller that should never have been onboarded.
How marketplaces pay sellers with Stripe Connect and FractionalPay
A marketplace on Stripe connects its platform account to FractionalPay and writes a split rule, for example 85% to the seller, 12% to the marketplace and 3% to a referral partner, with the seller share held until the return window closes. Every successful payment is split the moment it succeeds and written to a double-entry ledger. On the payout date, sellers above their minimum are paid through Stripe Connect to their own bank account.
Refunds and disputes reverse each share in proportion, even if the seller was already paid, and the next payout is adjusted automatically. Finance gets a daily reconciliation of the ledger against Stripe balance transactions and, on the Scale plan, approval for large payouts before they leave the account. Engineers can drive all of it through the payouts API, and the vendor payouts page shows how schedules and minimums are set per seller.
The quickest test is the simulator on our homepage. Enter one of last month's orders, the seller, your commission and any partner, and you will see the shares, the ledger lines and the first payout date before you connect anything.
