Payoneer mass payouts alternatives

Payoneer alternative for marketplace mass payouts on Stripe

Payoneer Mass Payouts is a payout network: you fund a balance, upload a batch or call the API, and sellers withdraw from their Payoneer account to a bank or card. If your buyers already pay through Stripe, FractionalPay splits each payment by rule, holds and reverses shares, and pays sellers from the same Stripe account, so you skip the second balance and the second reconciliation.

Most marketplaces that compare the two have one question. Are your sellers mostly abroad in markets Stripe does not pay out to, or mostly in the US and Europe? The answer usually decides it.

  • No second balance to fund before each payout run
  • Seller shares calculated from the payment, not a spreadsheet
  • Flat monthly plans, no per-transaction fee from us

Why teams compare

What Payoneer Mass Payouts does well and where the work moves to you

Payoneer built its business paying sellers for large marketplaces, and its payout network is the reason it ends up on a shortlist. According to its marketplace page, a platform can pay thousands of sellers across more than 190 countries and territories in 70+ currencies, by CSV upload or the Mass Payout API, into a Payoneer balance, a local bank account or an eligible Payoneer card. Payoneer runs seller KYC, and for US platforms it supports tax form collection and filing.

What Payoneer does not do is decide how much each seller gets. Your checkout collects the money on Stripe, your code or a spreadsheet works out commissions, refunds and holds, and then someone moves the net amount out of Stripe into your bank and from there into the Payoneer balance before the batch goes out. That is two ledgers, two balances and a reconciliation gap every payout cycle.

If most of your sellers are in countries Stripe Connect already pays out to, that whole loop is optional. The split, the hold, the refund reversal and the payout can all happen on the Stripe platform account where the order was paid.

  • Percentage, fixed and remainder shares on every Stripe payment
  • Holds until the delivery or return window passes
  • Partial refunds that reverse each share in proportion
  • One double-entry ledger from the order to the seller payout

Fee math

What paying 300 US sellers a month costs on each setup

Take a US marketplace that sells 376,000 USD a month on Stripe, keeps a 15% commission and pays 320,000 USD to 300 US sellers once a month. Payoneer does not publish what the platform pays per mass payout, so the Payoneer rows show only what is public: what sellers pay to get their money out. Stripe card processing is the same in both setups and left out.

On published numbers alone Payoneer can look cheaper, and if your contract is good it may be. The costs that do not show up in a fee table are the ones teams leave Payoneer over: an analyst calculating every seller's net amount, the bank transfer that funds the balance before each run, refunds that arrive after a seller was paid, and two systems to reconcile at month end. On Stripe with FractionalPay those steps run from the payment itself. See how payout runs are scheduled on marketplace payouts and what each Stripe fee means in Stripe Connect fees for marketplaces.

Honest fit

When Payoneer is the better choice

Payoneer is the stronger pick in several real cases, and a split layer on Stripe will not change that. Choose Payoneer when reach is the problem you are solving.

  • Many of your sellers live in countries where Stripe Connect cannot pay out
  • Sellers want a multi-currency balance or a card instead of a local bank payout
  • Your sellers already hold Payoneer accounts from other marketplaces
  • You do not collect payments on Stripe and only need to send money out
  • You want payee tax form collection and filing handled by the payout provider

Other options

Other Payoneer alternatives US marketplaces evaluate

FractionalPay fits one shape of business: payments already collected on Stripe and split between a seller, the marketplace and sometimes a third party. These are the other names that usually sit next to Payoneer on a marketplace payout shortlist, with the job each one does best.

  • Tipalti, when payouts are part of a wider accounts payable process with invoices and approvals (see our Tipalti alternative page)
  • Hyperwallet, now PayPal Enterprise Payouts, for prepaid cards, checks and cash pickup in 200+ markets (see Hyperwallet alternatives)
  • Trolley, a payout-first tool with payee tax forms for royalty and creator platforms (see our Trolley alternative page)
  • Dots, when payout methods and speed matter most and you already know each amount (see our Dots alternative page)
  • Stripe Connect on its own, when your split is one application fee and refunds only touch one seller (see Stripe Connect split payments)

Getting started

Moving seller payouts onto Stripe in four steps

You can run both for a while. Keep Payoneer for sellers in countries Stripe does not cover and move the rest as each payout cycle closes. Engineers can do each step through the payouts API.

  1. 01

    Connect Stripe

Link the Stripe platform account where checkout already runs. Charges, refunds and disputes start mirroring automatically.

  2. 02

    Onboard sellers

Import sellers who already have connected accounts by CSV and send the rest through Stripe's hosted onboarding.

  3. 03

    Write the split rule

Seller percentage, your commission, any referral share and a hold until the return window closes. Test it on a real order amount.

  4. 04

    Set the payout schedule

Weekly or monthly with a minimum amount, and every payout written to the ledger next to the orders it came from.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Something else on your mind? Write to [email protected] or read the API documentation.

What is the best alternative to Payoneer for marketplaces?
It depends on where your sellers are and where you collect payments. If buyers pay on Stripe and most sellers are in countries Stripe Connect covers, a split and payout layer such as FractionalPay on Stripe removes the second balance. If sellers are spread across 190 countries, Payoneer, Hyperwallet or Tipalti cover more payout destinations.
How much does Payoneer Mass Payouts cost?
Payoneer does not publish platform pricing for mass payouts. Its marketplace page says volume-based pricing comes from the partnerships team. On the payee side, the public pricing page lists 1.50 USD for a US local bank withdrawal, 1.2% to 4% when currency is converted, and a 29.95 USD annual fee for accounts that receive under 6,000 USD a year.
Do sellers need a Payoneer account to get paid?
Payoneer says sellers can receive marketplace payouts into a Payoneer account, a local bank account or an eligible Payoneer card, and each seller goes through Payoneer verification at onboarding. With FractionalPay on Stripe, sellers onboard through Stripe's hosted flow and are paid to their own bank account.
Is Payoneer or Stripe Connect better for marketplace payouts?
Stripe Connect is usually simpler when you already collect payments on Stripe, because the money never leaves the account it was paid into. Payoneer is better when you need payouts to countries Stripe does not support or sellers want multi-currency balances. Neither one decides split amounts for you, which is the job FractionalPay does on top of Stripe.
How long does it take to set up Payoneer for a marketplace?
Payoneer estimates six to eight weeks from kickoff to live deployment for its marketplace payout integration, which includes a sandbox, webhooks and a technical account manager. FractionalPay connects to an existing Stripe account the same week, because the payout rail is already there.
Can I use FractionalPay and Payoneer together?
Yes. Some marketplaces calculate every seller share and hold in FractionalPay, pay Stripe-supported sellers directly, and use the ledger export to build a Payoneer batch for sellers in other countries. The ledger keeps both groups in one record for month-end reconciliation.
How fast can we test FractionalPay?
The same day. The split simulator needs no account, and after signup the sandbox runs with test keys and demo data, so you can split a copy of a real order and see the ledger and payout dates before you connect your live Stripe account.
