Mangopay alternatives
Mangopay alternative for US marketplaces that collect on Stripe
Mangopay is a European payment institution that runs marketplace payments through wallets: buyers pay in, funds sit in a wallet per seller, and you trigger transfers and payouts from there. If your buyers already pay through Stripe, FractionalPay decides how much each seller, partner and the marketplace earns from every payment, holds and reverses shares, and pays sellers from that same Stripe account, with no wallet layer in between.
Teams look at Mangopay for the escrow-style flow. The cost for a US marketplace is a second payment stack and a quote-only price.
- Seller shares calculated from the payment, not a spreadsheet
- Refunds reverse every share in proportion
- Flat monthly plans, no per-transaction fee from us

Why teams compare
What the Mangopay wallet model does and what it costs a US marketplace
Mangopay was built for European marketplaces. Payments are collected into wallets held with Mangopay, you split and move funds between wallets through its API, and sellers withdraw to a bank account. Because the funds are held for you, Mangopay handles seller KYC and much of the regulatory work, which is a real saving for a platform that cannot or does not want to hold that risk.
The trade-off for a US business is that you adopt a separate checkout, separate seller onboarding and a second balance to reconcile. Mangopay also publishes no US price list. Its pricing page asks for a personalized plan, and the euro figures on review sites come from older European quotes, so they say little about what a US platform would pay.
If your buyers already pay on Stripe and your sellers can be paid through Stripe Connect, the split, the hold, the refund reversal and the payout can all happen on the platform account where the order was paid, with the ledger matched to Stripe balance transactions.
- Percentage, fixed and remainder shares on every Stripe payment
- Holds until the delivery or return window passes
- Partial refunds that reverse each share in proportion
- One double-entry ledger from the order to the seller payout

What paying 300 US sellers a month costs on the Stripe side
Take a US marketplace that sells 376,000 USD a month on Stripe, keeps a 15% commission and pays 320,000 USD to 300 US sellers once a month. Mangopay quotes by plan, so no figure is shown for it. Stripe card processing is the same in both setups and left out.

Ask Mangopay for a written quote that lists pay-in, transfer, payout, refund and chargeback fees for your volume, then compare it against this line. The costs a quote hides are the analyst time spent on each seller's net, the reconciliation between two balances and refunds that arrive after a seller was paid. See how payout runs are scheduled on marketplace payouts and what each Stripe fee means in Stripe Connect fees for marketplaces.

Honest fit
When Mangopay is the better choice
Mangopay is the stronger pick in several real cases, and a split layer on Stripe will not change that. Choose it when you need a regulated party to hold the funds, not just divide them.
- You sell mainly in Europe and want euro wallets and SEPA payouts
- You need escrow-style holding of funds with a regulated provider
- You do not want to run seller onboarding through Stripe Connect
- You are building a new marketplace and have not chosen a processor yet
- You want one provider to handle pay-in, KYC and payout end to end
Other options
Other Mangopay alternatives US marketplaces evaluate
FractionalPay fits one shape of business: payments already collected on Stripe and split between a seller, the marketplace and sometimes a third party. These are the other names that usually sit next to Mangopay on a shortlist, with the job each one does best.
- Stripe Connect on its own, when your split is one application fee and refunds only touch one seller (see Stripe Connect split payments)
- Adyen for Platforms, for a full processor move with sales-led onboarding (see our Adyen for Platforms alternative page)
- Finix, for becoming a payment facilitator and keeping the margin (see our Finix alternative page)
- Dots, when payout methods and speed matter most and you already know each amount (see our Dots alternative page)
- Tipalti, when payouts are part of a wider accounts payable process (see our Tipalti alternative page)
Getting started
Splitting and paying sellers from your Stripe account in four steps
You can run both while you decide. Keep Mangopay for European sellers and move US sellers as each payout cycle closes. Engineers can do each step through the payouts API.
-
01
Connect Stripe
Link the Stripe platform account where checkout already runs. Charges, refunds and disputes start mirroring automatically.
-
02
Onboard sellers
Import sellers who already have connected accounts by CSV and send the rest through Stripe's hosted onboarding.
-
03
Write the split rule
Seller percentage, your commission, any referral share and a hold until the return window closes. Test it on a real order amount.
-
04
Set the payout schedule
Weekly or monthly with a minimum amount, and every payout written to the ledger next to the orders it came from.
